Manchester Road Primary Academy believes that learning at home is vital to the children achieving the very best possible outcomes.

home learning teaches children that learning is not just about the classroom, but is about them continuing learning and sharing their experiences at home.

In early years, children will bring home a reading book within the first two weeks of starting school. They may bring words to read or practice writing, and may also bring home ideas for projects.

In KS1, children will take a reading book home to read each week, spellings and a comprehension exercise. The children have Sumdog available to practice mathematics and may occasionally be given projects to complete.

In KS2, children have reading plus which they can complete as much as they like. Times Tables Rockstars encourages tables practice and a comprehension book is sent home each week. Occasionally children may be given a project to complete at home.
