As a school we pay for online resources such as Active Learn https://www.activelearnprimary.co.uk/login?c=0 and Times Table Rockstars https://ttrockstars.com/
The children should be accessing these once a week to develop key comprehension skills and fluency within Maths.
In English, we started our new text called, Into the Forest. We have created scripts and a flow spray to map out the key events of the story. This was a new skill that we all enjoyed!
In Maths, we have continued with multiplication and division. We recapped on division before learning how to divide a 2-digit by 1-digit. We used the place value counters to help develop our knowledge of this.
In Science, we started our new unit all about Forces. We are so excited to test different materials to find which ones are magnetic. Our first lesson was theory based and we have discovered what a force is and what happens to objects when a force is applied. In French, we learnt the names of the main characters from the Christmas Nativity. We then used this knowledge to perform the Christmas Nativity. We completed scene 1 and are looking forward to performing scene 2.
In R.E, we continued our learning on leaders. This week we looked at the Prophet Muhammed and created a mind map about his qualities.
In Music, we have been using the drums with Mr White and are developing our understanding of rhythm and pitch.
In Reading, our text was all about Recycling and how to keep our Earth clean. We had some great discussions about why this is important.
Our Learning Hero assembly was awarded for always contributing class discussions especially in our shared writes.
Our Championship Point winners: Well done!
Our winning house was Respect.
Key information:
Swimming is EVERY MONDAY. PLEASE ensure that your child's clothing is labelled and they are given a bag to carry this in. We have had lots of items go missing and this would help us greatly.
P.E is EVERY WEDNESDAY. Again please ensure a full kit is provided each week. This can remain in school and children can take it home at the end of term.
Home Learning is given out on Wednesdays/Thursdays. Children are expected to complete this by the following Monday. If this is not completed then they will be expected to attend home work club. Online resources such as Active Learn https://www.activelearnprimary.co.uk/login?c=0 and Times Table Rockstars https://ttrockstars.com/ support children in the development of key comprehension and times table fluency.
Reading books are changed as much as possible throughout the week. The more we read the better writers we will become so we encourage as much as possible but expect at least a book to be changed once a week.
Upcoming Events:
Our Droylsden walk will be rescheduled. Please keep an eye out for a text.
