I can't believe we are already half way through our first half term together. It has been a great 4 weeks and we have really enjoyed working with your lovely children. All of whom are absolutely trying their best and making great progress. We are very lucky teachers.

MATHS

Maths has been quite a challenge this week. We have been skip counting in 2s, 5s and 10s. However this is an area of the mathematics curriculum we were unable to spend a lot of time on in year 1 due to COVID. So we have put extra lessons in to build up their confidence in this skill. Any help counting in these multiples at home would be great and their homework on sumdog this week consolidates this learning. Once they are confident with this it will really help them with their times tables and becoming the champions on  tt rockstars! Come on year 2 - we've got this!!!

ENGLISH

What fun we have had this week. We have been busy helping Bob again. He found a baby in his kitchen and we are helping him to find the owners by writing found posters. The children have worked hard using more ambitious vocabulary and lots of adverbial phrases for how where and when to add lots of detail to their writing. We are very proud of the outcomes, particularly how hard they are working on their presentation.

TOPIC

This week we found out lots more about Neil Armstrong; his younger life, his work life and his family. We also learnt his famous catchphrases.

Homework

Homework this week is reading ( books changed every Wednesday) , spelling  on TEAMS and maths activities on sumdog and tt rockstars. Well done to all those children who played in TT rockstars. Certificates are uploaded in teams.

We would really like to see more children having a go at the homework challenges set. It really is beneficial and those doing it have said how much fun they find it.

PE

PE is Wednesday. Please send your child in their full PE kit on a Wednesday. This consists of plain black or navy bottoms and a plain white t shirt. The school jumper or cardigan can be worn over the top or a plain dark jumper. No patterns/logos please. We want our children to look as smart in their PE kits as they do in their beautiful uniforms.
