Our attendance for last week was 98%. Well done. Let's keep this up!  We had 4 late marks.

In English, we are enjoying our current text Arthur and the Golden Rope. We have been dismayed to find out that the town has been attacked by a vicious wolf. Next week we will be writing our own news report to tell all about this shocking event. To help us with this we have learnt about how to punctuate direct speech and use alliteration. We had so much fun trying to use alliteration on our names!

In Maths, we started our new unit on multiplication and division. So far, we have recapped on the 3 and 4 and 8  times table. We have looked at making groups of 3, 4 and 8 before dividing by this amount. We have also been developing our rapid recall in this area and Times Table Rockstars will help the children in this area.

In Science, we have continued with our unit on rocks and soils. We discovered all about the rock cycle, different types of rock and also how to follow a key to identify the type of rock we had chosen. We were then challenged to write our own key to find the difference between two rocks.

In French, we recapped on numbers to 10, classroom instructions and greetings before moving onto colours. Next week we will be continuing with our colours and applying this to a range of tasks.

In R.E, we started our new unit on Hinduism. We wrote some factual cards to explain about the different Gods.

In Music, we have been using the drums with Mr White and are developing our understanding of rhythm and pitch.

In Reading, our text this week was a poem all about an authors love of words. We have been developing our dictionary and thesaurus skills through lots of clarifying sessions. We have also been using our skimming and scanning skills to locate answers to a range of comprehension questions.

Key information:

Swimming is EVERY MONDAY. PLEASE ensure that your child's clothing is labelled and they are given a bag to carry this in. We have had lots of items go missing and this would help us greatly.

P.E is EVERY WEDNESDAY. Again please ensure a full kit is provided each week. This can remain in school and children can take it home at the end of term.

Home Learning is given out on Wednesdays/Thursdays. Children are expected to complete this by the following Monday. If this is not completed then they will be expected to attend home work club.

Reading books are changed as much as possible throughout the week. The more we read the better writers we will become so we encourage as much as possible but expect at least a book to be changed once a week.
