Our attendance for the last week of term was 100%. Well done. Let's keep this up!  We had 6 late marks.

As a school we pay for online resources such as Active Learn https://www.activelearnprimary.co.uk/login?c=0 and Times Table Rockstars https://ttrockstars.com/

The children should be accessing these once a week to develop key comprehension skills and fluency within Maths.

In English, we started our new text called, Into the Forest. We have been gripped by the story so far and cannot wait to discover more. We have also learnt all about personification, metaphors, similes and onomatopoeia. We also wrote our own description to describe the storm the boy could hear. We listened to music to put ourselves in his shoes. According to the children it was 'so cool'!

In Maths, we have continued with multiplication and division. We recapped on our 3 and 4 times table before moving onto multiplying 2-digit by 1-digit without bridging. We used the place value counters to help develop our knowledge of this.

In Science, we started our new unit all about Forces. We are so excited to test different materials to find which ones are magnetic. Our first lesson was theory based and we have discovered what a force is and what happens to objects when a force is applied. In French, we learnt the names of the main characters from the Christmas Nativity. We are going to use this knowledge to perform the Christmas Nativity in French next week.

In R.E, we started our new unit on Leaders. We wrote some adjectives to describe the qualities a leader would have. E.g. loyal, kind, organised.

In Music, we have been using the drums with Mr White and are developing our understanding of rhythm and pitch.

In Reading, our text this week was all about Chinese New Year. We learnt so many facts and enjoyed learning about the animal we are from our year of birth. We have been developing our dictionary and thesaurus skills through lots of clarifying sessions. We have also been using our skimming and scanning skills to locate answers to a range of comprehension questions.

Key information:

Swimming is EVERY MONDAY. PLEASE ensure that your child's clothing is labelled and they are given a bag to carry this in. We have had lots of items go missing and this would help us greatly.

P.E is EVERY WEDNESDAY. Again please ensure a full kit is provided each week. This can remain in school and children can take it home at the end of term.

Home Learning is given out on Wednesdays/Thursdays. Children are expected to complete this by the following Monday. If this is not completed then they will be expected to attend home work club.  Online resources such as Active Learn https://www.activelearnprimary.co.uk/login?c=0 and Times Table Rockstars https://ttrockstars.com/ support children in the development of key comprehension and times table fluency.

Reading books are changed as much as possible throughout the week. The more we read the better writers we will become so we encourage as much as possible but expect at least a book to be changed once a week.
