What a busy first week back it’s been! It has been lovely too see you all back at school after the Christmas break, eager and ready to learn!

In English, we have started to read our new book, Toby and the Great Fire of London. We have been using a variety of descriptive language in our writing to enhance our descriptions.

In Maths, we have started our unit of work on money, and have been trying to make the same amount with different coins. Please practise counting in 2s, 5s and 10s and encourage your child to access timetables rock stars in order to improve their skills.

In history this week we created a timeline of events for the great fire of London. In ICT, the children researched the great fire of London and developed their use of technology by navigating round a website using hyperlinks. In PSHE we celebrated our successes this week, which was lovely to see. In RE, we started to learn about Jewish celebrations. We also started music sessions with Tameside Music Service, which is very exciting!

Our attendance last week was 93.8%, which is below our expectation of 97%. We also had 6 late marks. Remember, learning starts at 8:45!

Our learning hero this week was Jace, for making lots of links between prior learning and being very on the ball this week! Keep it up Jace. Bella got to take Smarty Bear home, as she always working incredibly hard across all lessons and is a fantastic role model. Our Handwriting Hero was Jake, for using joins across all pieces of work. Our championship winners were Evie, Maisy F and Amelia K, while Respect was the winning house.
