Image of 3SS - Penultimate Week of Spring 1

Our attendance for last week was 98%. Well done!  We had 2 late marks.

In English, we have worked incredibly hard to present our Into the Forest script. We selected our favourite scene and then got ourselves into groups ready to rehearse these. We made sure to follow the stage directions and add intonation and facial expressions to enhance the play.

We are so grateful to all the parents and carers who could join us and watch our performances. We hope you enjoyed them!

In Maths, we now completed our unit on money by adding and subtracting amounts. Please continue with this at home and allow the children to handle money and pay for items while you are out and about over the weekend.

In Science, we conducted our own investigation to find out which magnet was the strongest by seeing how many paper clips it could hold. It was thought provoking and used our results to write clear conclusions and had some fantastic reasoning!

In French, we have continued to learn the names of different foods. We worked independently to identify key fruits and other snacks. We can't wait to learn more next week!

In R.E, we developed our knowledge of moral dilemmas and identified these in different parables.

In Music, we have been using the drums with Mr White and are developing our understanding of rhythm and pitch.

In Reading, our new text is all about Pollution and how this can and is affecting our world. We thoroughly enjoy our non-fiction texts especially when they are about the world around us.

Our Learning Hero was awarded for always putting 110% into everything she does! Well done!

Key information:

Swimming is EVERY MONDAY. PLEASE ensure that your child's clothing is labelled and they are given a bag to carry this in. We have had lots of items go missing and this would help us greatly.

P.E is EVERY WEDNESDAY. Again please ensure a full kit is provided each week. This can remain in school and children can take it home at the end of term.

Home Learning is given out on Wednesdays/Thursdays. Children are expected to complete this by the following Monday. If this is not completed then they will be expected to attend home work club.  Online resources such as Active Learn https://www.activelearnprimary.co.uk/login?c=0 and Times Table Rockstars https://ttrockstars.com/ support children in the development of key comprehension and times table fluency.

Reading books are changed as much as possible throughout the week. The more we read the better writers we will become so we encourage as much as possible but expect at least a book to be changed once a week.
